Magnetic resonance (MR) of the breast is generally used as a complimentary exam for breast screening used to detect women at high risk of breast cancer or to assess a breast cancer condition if already diagnosed. Because breast MR does not use ionizing radiation, therefore it is also considered one of the best methods to determine damaged breast implants.
From a technical perspective, MR or MRI uses powerful magnets as opposed to radiation, to make cross-sectional pictures of the body. These detailed images capture key body parts from many angles, the front, the side, above your head, including pictures of soft tissue body parts that are sometimes hard to see using other imaging exams.
